Alaskan Klee Kai
History:

The Alaskan Klee Kai is a reasonably modern miniaturized breed developed from Alaskan and Siberian Huskies in the 1970s after the breeder, Linda Spurlin saw an accidental mating between an Alaskan Husky and an unknown small dog and thought it would make the perfect pet. Breeding with small Nordic spitz-type dogs such as the Schipperke and American Eskimo Dog, she kept the miniaturization of the breed a secret until she was confident about their nature as a pet. Although this dog is ideal for small apartments, they need daily exercise as they have a high energy level. They are a large dog in a small dog’s body, and although they will happily curl up on your lap, they have still retained their hunting, guarding and pack instincts of the Huskies. This breed is not currently recognized by the American Kennel Club’s breed classification system.
