Small Münsterlander
History:

Like its larger namesake, the Small Münsterlander originated from the Münster region of Germany in the early 1900s. A fine hunting dog which can tolerate extremes of weather, the breed is descended from the crossing of Spaniels with the German Longhaired Pointer. This is a very versatile breed and is thought to be developed from different breeding stock than the Large Münsterlander and therefore the breeds are thought to not be as similar as the names would imply. In the United States, the Small Münsterlander is now recognized by the American Kennel Club as a Foundation Stock Service breed.
